Here's The Deal

Not too long ago I posted about how we were going to have to cut back on expenses.. possibly even lose our internet. *Twitch* Now here we are buying a home. How did things change? What's the deal here anyway???

We were going through a rough patch for a little while due to spending more that was coming in. We sold some stuff on Craigslist and cut back on some expenses. That got us out of deep water. When the next month's bills came and we owed less than we had before, things leveled out.

Now then. Our lease runs out in October. Our complex has become anal about what can be done here and what can't. If anyone remembers, we got a note saying we could not leave our dog's water bowl on the patio. That's just one example. There were more.

We wanted out and the lease expiring seemed like the perfect time. IF.. and yes, that was a BIG IF. IF we could find something in the time window. IF we could find something cheaper than where we are now, but still have it be nice.

Then came the biggest IF of all. What IF we could get financed and buy a home??? The only way to find out was to go house mobile home hunting and give it a whirl. We spent a considerable amount of time searching.. driving around. Nothing seemed worth trying to get a loan for. And we looked at and went inside many.

Then we found the one we fell in love with. We applied for the loan. The next day we found out it had gone through. We were ecstatic!!! We still are! But how will we afford to have our own place when we were struggling not too long ago? Well.. because this home (less than my car was) and the lot rent are much cheaper than the apartment we're in now. And it will be ours.

We will get the keys by next Friday most likely. Whatever day we get them we will start taking things over a little at a time. There are two rooms we want to paint before the furniture comes. We're thinking maybe two to four weeks before we move in all the way. A lot depends on when and if I can line up my sons to come help.

Oh one more thing. The first payment on the new home won't be until the end of September. We get three free months lot rent. So.. October 1 we pay the last rent payment here and the first new place payment, minus the lot rent.. which is the biggest part. We qualify for that first time home buyer tax rebate that will come when we file taxes next year.

That's how this will work. =)

Sounds like such a great deal for you. We recently moved from Georgia to Tennessee and cut our living expenses greatly. Aren't you glad you don't have to go over 400 miles to make the change.

I think it's awesome. I thought that perhaps the idea to buy had been there awhile-and that's why you were so concerned about cutting back on expenses.

Sometimes things just work out.
