I was on the phone with my daughter's ex-boyfriend tonight. He's the foster dad of her son and my oldest grandchild. This grandson has always been slow in his development. The ex-boyfriend took him for a neurological workup recently and found out why..
Grandson suffers from shaken baby syndrome and even though he's seven years old he's on a three year old level. He may not ever get higher than that. It does not change our love for the boy of course, but it's sad news.
Ex-boyfriend said grandson wakes up every day with a smile on his face.. tries his best all day long.. then falls asleep at night still smiling. I hope he stays that way. Just like he is and always has been. Happy and lovable.

It's always sad to hear of a child who has developmental delays as we always want and wish for our children, our grandchildren and all others as well, to be fully functioning, don't we? But with proper nurturing, who knows how far your grandson can go? But keeping him happy and lovable, that's a really important aspect to his growth and surely will bode well for him to have attributes like those too, won't it?
Aw, he sounds like such a sweet boy. I have a special place in my heart for kiddos like him. :)
He's a beautiful and precious boy... that will never change!
The innocence of childhood... wish we all could remember to wake up and go to bed with a smile on our faces. Thank you for sharing your family with me.
I agree with Misty. Hugs to you and your Grandson.
I work with adults with developmental disabilities-and I can't even describe the amount of joy they give me on an (almost) daily basis. I know it'll be a tough road for your family, but keep loving unconditionally and you'll be rewarded.
Sorry to hear that news. So sweet that he's always smiling.
