I was browsing through the Sunday memes at The Daily Meme when I saw this one and decided to give it a try. The theme for this week is Worst Work Stories.
I'm going to share a story that wasn't about a job I had, but about someone else. You'll see what I mean when you get to the end.
Many (many) years ago when I was still married to Ex and the kids were young, we had a salesman drop by our house. He was selling life insurance. At that time there was a lot of news coverage about making sure you check credentials of people because of scammers in the area. Keep that in mind, okay?
So.. Ex lets Salesman in. Something I never would have done, I might add. I'm just that way. We settle down at the dining room table and Salesman brings out his papers and begins his presentation and sales pitch.
I keep throwing him off his pace by asking things like what is his company's phone number in case I want to verify who he is. Finally, sensing he won't get a sale at a house where someone is as consumer savvy as me, he gets up to leave.
We walk him to the door, where he turns to shake Ex's hand and says, "Ok, then Ex. I'll see you at work on Monday."
Yeah.. it was a guy Ex worked with..
