i'd have to say it's a cruise i took with my parents, sister and cousins to the caribbean. my dad got hammered after biking and embarrassed himself, we drank rum punch until it ran out on a snorkel trip and we made a tower with all of the empty plastic cups, and we met a million fun people on the ship -- it was a carefree blast.
I think it was in August of 1981 when I took my kids and we went first to Maryland/D.C. area so I could visit my best friend and see several other old friends from when I had worked in D.C. From there we went to Annapolis and had a great crab feast dinner with yet another old buddy. After that, we headed to see the kids' grandparents in Illinois and spent a day at Cedar Point enroute. At Grandma and Grandpa's, we stayed at their "camp" along the Mississippi and Grandpa took my son out fishing in his boat. THe boy caught a huge, ugly carp and was absolutely ecstatic. It wasn't maybe the vacation of a lifetime -no fancy cruise or anything -but just so much fun.
When we took my step-daughter to Nashville. We went to Hocking Hills, Gattlinburg, Nashville, Virginia, the Kentucky Horse Park... we had SUCH a great time!
This is really hard one for me as I just LOVE to go on vacation and travel. If it's out of the United States, I'd have to say our trip to New Zealand was my favorite. I just LOVE it there. Here in the states, I've been to a lot of fun/beautiful places, but I guess I'd have to say that our yearly Yellowstone/Grand Teton trip is my best vacation. We do white water rafting and tons of picnics and site seeing and it's just nice to be away from the buzz of it all :)
It was in that same national park you went to. Just a couple of days, in early spring. YMCA cabins. Me, Poor Hubby & 1 yr old Little T. Misty mornings & elk hanging around outside. No TV. Silence & beauty & family. Bliss.
Tony Orlando and Dawn - Tie a Yellow Ribbon - brings back fond memories. My HoT is short-n-sweet. http://forgetfulone.blogspot.com/2008/05/heads-or-tails.html

We take the kids camping every year down to a lake. No camp ground, just a tent and the lake. It's beautiful and the kids love it.

Our honeymoon at Crete, Greece's biggest island, fabulous island with very much to discover even if you're not a honeymoon'er :-)
I'll never forget it.... the high mountains with fantastic scenery... or the crystal clear water at the Elafonisi beach....
