That's a very touching song.....today is a day of rememberance for me as well....it is three years ago today that my dear mother passed...tough day all around for a lot of people...
Getting ready to go to work. When I first saw the news, I didn't even react. It just didn't seem real. I almost forgot today (imagine that!) when I saw a man standing on an overpass as I was driving to work. I was wondering why he was just standing up there waving a flag, when it hit me. My heart goes out to all who lost someone that day.
I had driven my children to school and was at home trying to take a nap. My sister-in-law came in a little after 9:00am and woke me. She and I spent the morning watching the news. We also picked up our kids early from school and came back home to watch the news the rest of the day/night. My brother was over the road driving at the time and Steve was at work on Post. Post was locked down.
Great post. Too many people have forgotten what happened seven years ago, and that's not very long. All that's on the news where I am today is Hurricane Ike stuff. But I remember well.
I was at work. The teacher next to me, who I miss dearly, came and got me to show me what he was watching, and I thought it was a Hollywood stunt at first. I couldn't believe it. My twins were in kindergarten, so they were also at school (I'm a teacher), but not my school. So many students were picked up that morning by worried parents, and there was nothing I could do. I lived by an airport at the time, and the sky was eerily quiet that day. Planes usually fly over every ten minutes or so, and the quiet was so pervasive.
Oh I cry every time. I was in Algebra class... and anouncement came over the intercome for teachers to turn on the TV. Our teacher did, we watched the 2nd plane hit... and then he turned it off. I was furious. I think I watched the news for abut a month afterwards. It still gets to me when I think about that day. Ah I have tears in my eyes right now!

I can SO remember that morning . . . it was like watching a BAD movie. "Can this be really happening?" we wondered.
We dropped everything we were doing and simply gaped at the TV screen.

such a sad day. i was in an electrical store on my birthday, and i saw it on the news on their in store tv's :(
