The Right Fit

I dropped by the local Fashion Bug store yesterday. It's September now and I thought I should finish using the gift card hubby gave me last Christmas. I'm not big on clothes shopping, mostly because at my size it's not always easy to find things I like, in my size.

So, I walk in and start heading over to the knit elastic waisted pants, when I'm greeted by a saleslady who asks if she can help me find anything. I smile and say I wish she could show me some jeans in my size.

She asks what size. I reply that they don't carry my size in jeans. I'm still smiling because that's how I am, also happy to have someone to talk to. (Laugh.) She says she bet they do. I walk over to her, turn around, pull out the tag from the back of the (knit elastic waisted) pants I'm wearing so she can check the size.

She does a quick calculation in her head and comes up with size 8. At this point I'm wondering what she's been smoking. (I haven't worn size 8 since .. um.. since I WAS 8.) She leads me to a huge section of Right-Fit jeans, picks out a pair of size 8 jeans for me to go try on.

I go try them on. And am shocked. They fit. They zipped even. I do something I never do when trying on new clothes. I walk out of the dressing room and check myself out in the bigger mirrors.

Saleslady sees me and says they look a little big. (!!!) She goes to get me a size 7 and a size 6 to try on. The first pair I tried on was the size 6. They FIT!

At this point I was about ready to run around the store skipping and singing the Hallelujah chorus. I managed to refrain from that and instead bought that pair and two more, too. I wanted to buy out the store and come home to throw out all those knit elastic waisted pants, but I didn't do that either.

Wearing jeans again, like I am today, is such a big deal to someone my size. It makes me feel normal. To think that they are a size 6 makes me feel happy.

I would love to be able to wear jeans in a smaller size :). Currently I wear womens size 24 or 26 and I hate it so I rarely wear jeans. I am much more comfortable in pull on pants.

Way to go girl!!!!

All I can say is: Yay! My personal favorites right now are silhouettes.com & roamans.com because I can find cute stuff that fits & I don't have to go shopping for it.

There is nothing better than finding a pair of jeans that fit and look good regardless of the size....what a great saleperson....it would be nice if you sent a note to the store to let the manager know how helpful the sales clerk was...you would make her day!!!

Congrats!
I'm happy for you. I know I love jeans! They are probably my favorite article of clothing.
