Heads Or Tails #60 - The Letter G

You can play this at Heads Or Tails!

**************************
I've heard many ways to conserve this planet's resources.. and even do a few already. (Not nearly enough, though.) With that in mind I did an experiment this morning.

[Yes, this will tie in with the theme soon.]

You see, I always let the water run while brushing my teeth. I've heard that it's a waste of water, so I decided to see just how much I've been wasting. Here's what I ended up with..

TEN glasses of water!!!

Sometimes you hear things. Sometimes you just have to SEE for yourself. I will now being turning OFF the water while brushing my teeth.

**************************
Now for a G video!

My father always yelled at us for letting the water run while we brushed out teeth. He always yelled about turning the light off when we left a room. I think I turned into my father because I do the same thing to my kids. LOL

I had no idea I could waste that much water brushing my teeth! Great use of G this week. Like the Goo Goo Dolls.

My aunt and uncle had such high water bills that they would fill a gallon jug with cold water waiting to get to the hot water. In the winter sometimes they would fill 2 jugs! It really is amazing how much we waste things. I've stopped using paper plates and plastic cups. Can't give up my paper towels totally, but if I have a load of towels ready and there's a spill.. I'll grab an already dirty towel before I'll grab the paper ones.

Yep, it's amazing how much water we waste without even realising it. I consider those to be ten important glasses, there :-)

My DH does that... drives me NUTS. I grew up without running water (yep, really), so couldn't have done it if I wanted to, so never got into the habit.

Guess that was a good thing!

I finally got my whole family to shut it off while brushing their teeth too. It can only make sense if you ask me. And we also now take showers almost the same way. We get the water on...drench ourselves and get the rag soapy and wet...then shut the water off and scrub...then and only when we're done scrubbing do we turn the water back on to rinse off.

Happy HoT day.

I sometimes do for a moment but not usually for the entire time.

hahaha, in Australia we always turn the taps off. it's a crime not to! when i was travelling overseas, everyone thought it was weird. but to me it's just habit!

I could see the value of turning off the water in Las Vegas or Phoenix or Los Angeles or some other water-starved area... but in the Midwest where water is bountiful? I don't see the problem. We use it, we put it back.

On the other hand, I'm a bug about leaving the lights on -- all fathers are; we get training for it -- and we've gone almost all fluorescent and we recycle paper, plastic, aluminum....

Perhaps I'm just inconsistent, but I don't think so.

[ps....if you think I do a lot for Halloween, wait 'til Christmas. rofl ---I've had family and friends tell me it's like 'walking into a toy shop'!]

Happy Tuesday Barb.

Did you read about Starbucks in England leaving their taps running ALL DAY? They have been made to turn them off.

Gosh -- all that water made me have to go to the bathroom before I wrote this comment. LOL

I was wondering how you filled the glasses up while you brushed. A woman of many talents.

Thanks for stopping by Penny Lane.
Do you know what, I don't think you have me on the HoTtie blogroll.
Do you think I can be added?

Note: I filled a measuring cup then poured into jugs while doing this. :)

Thanks for adding me to the blogrool... and WOW! Ten glasses... I've always heard I should turn the water off, but always thought... I don't brush my teeth THAT long. Maybe I was wrong.

Hi again Barb :)

I only have one alliance toon...a lvl 34 night elf druid. I don't like to play alliance.

I have four level 70 toons...all Horde :) *Tauren Druid, Blood Elf Paladin, Tauren Hunter and Undead Priest*

Hi!
Great G for Heads or Tails. You never know how much you waste until you test it yourself. Take Care!!

Well - at least I know you've got clean teeth and fresh breath ;-)

I'm a bad girl too - I always let the water run... from now on, I'll think of this post and change my ways.

Wow, that is a lot of water! I feel bad letting the water run, but my teeth are too sensitive to rinse with cold water.

I haven't heard that song in so long! Love it.

I’m catching up on HoTs today after being gone all day yesterday. Wow … this is an excellent reminder for everyone. I’ve finally developed the habit of turning off the water while I brush and I capture water while waiting for the water to heat up before my shower and use it in my yard. Thanks for dropping by mine at Small Reflections yesterday.
Hugs and blessings,

Wow! That certainly is a lot of water. I leave the tap running too, your post is inspiring me to stop and turn it off.
