It's Over

What seemed like the longest election in history (maybe it was?) is finally over. Obama will be sworn in as the 44th president on January 20th.

I made no secret of the fact that he was my candidate. I didn't broadcast it from the top of my apartment building or anything, but I did have a banner at the top of my blog for a while showing my support. I didn't heckle or enter into discussions with other bloggers over the pros and cons of him winning or McCain losing.

He was my choice. MY choice.

I've voted in Presidential elections since I was old enough to vote. Even though I am a registered Democrat, I have often voted Republican. I vote for the person I think will do the best job for America.. not by party lines.

Obama inspired me like no other candidate ever has. EVER. I've wondered over the past months if this is what people felt like when JFK was running. I think it might have been.

When I watched him give his speech, I was moved to tears. Not for the history of it all, although that may have slightly played into it, but because I feel like there is hope for this country. Time will tell how that plays out.

So.. it's goodbye to the red states and the blue states. Despite who you voted for, let's all say a prayer for Obama and the tremendous tasks facing him. Let's join together as one.. as the United States.

Can we do this? Yes we can.

Well said Skittles!

I didn't vote for Obama BUT I don't and won't talk negative about those who did. Everyone is allowed to have their opinion and should not be punished for stating our opinions.

It moved me to tears too. Thinking all my hard earned money is now going to be "shared" with those who don't work and pay their own way.

I work hard. I support myself and my children. I resent people who think I will pay their way.

I teared up a little, too. (Hid it from Poor Hubby, he teases me.)
I have lots of hope.
