I Told You I Was Sick

Johnny Carson once said he wanted that line on his tombstone.. "I told you I was sick." I've always thought that was clever. After today I feel like I could say it, too. But not on a tombstone of course.

A couple weeks ago I went for routine blood work for my diabetes. Today was my scheduled appointment to get yelled at by my doctor review the results. I knew my sugar was going to be astronomical. After all I know what I've been eating and how much.

Doctor was quick about reviewing my results and focused instead on my flu like symptoms. Not too long ago I said it was like walking pneumonia. Guess what. Apparently I've been riding out real pneumonia.

He said I was at the tail end of it. He wanted to do an x-ray but his machine had broken down this morning. He said if my lungs sounded just a smidgen worse than they did he would have sent me to the hospital.

He gave me some prescriptions and said to come back in a week. More rest, more drinking of fluids. And of course to call if I got worse. He said we'll worry about the diabetes after we get this taken care of.

So.. what's new with all of you?

Oh NO! I knew you had to be really sick, because you weren't chatting with me... so either you were really sick or really sick of me. bwahahahaha

Feel better soon, my dear friend. PLEASE take care of yourself!

I'm eagerly awaiting the end of the world in December 2012. (Autumn & meds haven't met lately.)

Two things here -first about the penumonia thing -be darned glad that your doctor found that now, even if you are at the "tail end" of it! Get those meds into you and get well fast.
Now -to the other thing -the humor of that comment of Johnny Carson about what he wanted on his grave reminded me of the guy who used to be one of the local undertakers here and he had a sense of humor that was sometimes a bit on the "off the wall" side. His last name was Strange and he told me and the girls I was working with at the time at the local truckstop that he had made the following plans for his burial plot. He said he wanted a stone there but wanted absolutely nothing engraved on it and that way, people would pass by and see the blank marker, point and say, "Hey, isn't that strange there?"
Peace!
