Miss Prissy

Remember Miss Prissy from Gone With The Wind. She's the one who said something like, "I don't know nothin' about birthin' babies, Mizz Scahlett." I was the same way when at seventeen years old I gave birth to my first child.

My and my husband (at the time) were kind of poor and I couldn't afford any maternity clothes. I wore long shirts, sometimes his, and just kept my pants unzipped. (Maybe if I'd kept them zipped earlier I wouldn't have been pregnant so young.)

Moms-to-be are luckier these days. There are consignment shops and even places you can buy clothing online.

It would have been nice to have these options thirty four years ago. Maybe I'd have wanted to show you a picture of me when I was pregnant. Nah. It was really bad. I mean really bad.

It would have been nice too if someone had told me ABOUT THE PAIN of childbirth. I was a screamer. Oh yes I was. Remember, this was ages ago and I think Lamaze was just in it's beginning stages. Most times you got a gas mask put on your face and went nighty-night until it was over.

And that was fine with me.

LOL about the zipped pants

My only birth experience is the foal one and looking at poor Naloma I have said a couple of times that I was VERY HAPPY that I decided ages ago not to have children. And that birth took about an hour from start to finish. A week after that a human friend of mine gave birth to a boy. She started on the wednesday evening and the baby finally popped out friday afternoon. I mean.....uh!

I went natural with Aurora and I made sure I was frozen when I had Aidan. Oh yeah, that hurts, it's worth it in the end, but man is it ever painful! ;o)

My mother's very fond of telling me all about my birthday. I think she still blames me...

All's good, just super-mega-busy. Waiting for stuff to settle down so I can put my thoughts in order. ((hugs))
