Heads Or Tails #97

You can play this at Heads Or Tails!

The theme/prompt for THIS week, June 30, is:

HEADS - "Tool"

Make any kind of post using "Tool" as your theme/prompt.

When you go to counseling one of the first things you are taught to use are your TOOLS. Identify your support people. Make a game plan for what to do when you feel stressed. Etc. etc. etc. (That means I've forgotten some.)

Another helpful TOOL is to quit being so hard on yourself. OK. This one I have trouble with. A Lot.

Me and Mr. Skittles went off on a little road trip a few days ago. You can read WHY we did in the post below this one, but while you're here I'll keep going with what I wanted to say. We were following Michigan's west coast shoreline and doing so meant we went through some areas with beaches and people swimming. As we passed through one nice community I said to Mr. Skittles, "Nothing here for us fat people to do." Because it was a swimming, tanning, frolicking in the water community.

Well, that comment made me start thinking. Why couldn't I go there and swim and tan and frolic in the water??? Because I'm fat? Because I would offend people if I showed up in shorts or God forbid a swimsuit??? Yeah. Pretty much. But wouldn't that be the other people's problem then? Because THEY would be offended by ME? If I'm offensive though then maybe I shouldn't do those things.

I think I think too much. But I won't be going swimming.

I hoped I could have found the real spoof made of this song. I couldn't though so this karaoke version will have to do.

I am following Heads or Tails and I am with you on the beach thing. We do have the right to go out there but I am too worried about being laughed at.

Go swimming.
That's kind of what my poem is about. Finding solutions within ourselves and not expecting fixes from outside.
People are what they are - other people should get over it!

I know how you feel about swimming although I have no idea of your weight. My 78 year-old body is not what it was. Not that it was ever much! So, although we live almost on the sea, I've given-up swimming. And yet, when I go down to the beach I see people in the water even older and more decrepit than I am and I ADMIRE them.I think we're both being too sensitive, don't you?

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm, excuse me? You say you don't swim because of your body?!! Oh Skittles........no, no. Enjoy life. You were given life....GO SWIMMING for crying out loud. And wear those shorts. If you think you're being looked at...who gives a rat's a$$....it's their problem, not yours.

I would go swimming. Fat or Not and not saying you are fat but if you are you would not be the only fat person on the beach. Most of the us Americans are overweight or fat.

Wear a modest bathing suit and I bet nobody would look twice or give you any dirty looks. Now, if you put on a bikini or wore a speedo......

I have put on a lot of weight because of my thyroid issues, but I still go swimming because I love it. :) Don't let fear of what others might think stop you. Most people I think worry about their own bodies too.

Love the video clip!

The last time I appeared in a bathing costume at a public pool, Captain Ahab came out of nowhere and tried to harpoon me.

Do what I do, wear a t-shirt or short or both over your swim suit. I'm not a big swimming fan, but when it's hot, it sure is nice to take a cool dip.

I have a tendency to forget I'm fat. It's very freeing. You should give it a shot sometime. ;) ((((hugs))))

Great stories.. you write so well.... I am glad you threw caution to the wind and went on your trip!

Hey I am as bad as you...I hate to get in a swimming suit because I am not 30 anymore. How sad, that society is so cruel to women especially. All the commercials tell how we "should" look And usually we buy into it! well I have a smart friend who told many years ago... NEVER SHOULD ON YOURSELF. she had a great poster.as a reminder...I guess I "should" have bought one :-) :-)
