The Nightstalker

I used to do cleaning for supplemental income when my kids were younger and still at home. I cleaned offices, libraries and banks. I did this after the businesses were closed and worked alone so it was perfect for me. Every once in a while I'd take one or two of my kids to keep me company.

This post is about how my daughter got me fired..

I had taken her and her friend with me when I went to clean a bank. They were maybe 7th grade-ish. (<--I made up a word! Go me!) They helped me empty trash cans but mostly scooted around on the chairs with wheels. I cleaned upstairs and down never really giving them a thought. Until the next day when I got a call.

It seems while I wasn't looking they had written something on a dry erase board in the break room about "the Nightstalker sees and knows all." Maybe if they'd only written something about acne treatments there wouldn't have been such a fuss.. but the Nightstalker thing DID create some fuss and scared the employees.

The police were called. Fingerprint experts were called. The FBI was almost called. Then they watch the security tape and saw who had done it. I was fired. Then for good measure they fired my (ex)husband who cleaned other buildings.

I've stopped dyeing my hair for now. I'm letting the gray hair show. I can point out which ones I got from which kid. Most were from my daughter. Bless her heart. =)

How much trouble did your daughter get into?

It's a little funny now, but if I were you, I would have been pretty furious.

Oh, man! I would have been so angry! But I think the bank over-reacted.

I can imagine that you were absolutely furious at the time, especially since it cost you your job. However, now that it's years later, I have to tell ya - that there is freaking funny!
