Window Monitor

I use my laptop more than my desktop now. A friend tells me this is a good thing because my laptop is in my light and airy dining room while my desktop is in a dark spare bedroom. It does uplift my spirits a bit more being out here where I can see what's going on in the neighborhood around me. Keeps me from being so isolated, I suppose.

When I look up from the laptop the window in front of me faces the trailer across the street. It's a new couple living there and they have two little boys.. I'm guessing ages 2 and 4. They also have a new puppy.. and the parents leave the boys in charge of the puppy quite often.

I think the boys should be being supervised while playing outside but I stay quiet about that. They appear to stay in the yard and this is a nice neighborhood. But, yeah.. I watch them. Just to be sure. Not in a creepy neighbor stalking way. If I happen to look up and see them playing I notice if they're in the yard or not. That kind of thing.

But the puppy is another story. The 4 year old quickly forgets to hold the leash and more than once I've seen this baby puppy running by the road and this afternoon it was in the road. Yikes! I'm glad I wasn't wearing lingerie and was already dressed because I headed to my door faster than you can snap your fingers.

I guess I was going to get the attention of the kids but by the time I got to my door the puppy was away from the road and the dad had come out to check on the kids. I got brave and called out to the dad and 'mentioned' the puppy had been in the road and he thanked me.

I came back in and took some deep breaths after stepping out of my comfort zone and went back to Facebook.. and being a window monitor.

That's great you did that. I like the trailer park too in that I can see people going by rather than just trees in the wilderness.

It really does take a village, you know. Good for you for watching out for the kids and the dog.

And kids playing in the yard are a great burglar deterrent for the neighborhood. My ex-neighbors were sad to see us leave 14 years ago for this reason -- and, sure enough, their garage was burgled within a month or two after we were gone....

Good thing you check on them sometimes. That's too young to be playing outside alone.

I have something for you on my blog.

You put your safety zone to the back burner which is awesome! You can do it when needed... now do it just for the heck of it! (I know... easier said than done) I know you can do it!
