Taking It Easy

I know it seems like all I do is whine, but this week has been a rough one for me. I finally got my psychiatrist to refill my Xanax prescription after three days of withdrawal symptoms. I even had to pay a visit to the ER one night.

The nurse there compared withdrawing from Xanax to withdrawing from cocaine. I wouldn't know about that personally. The cocaine, I mean. Some of the side affects of withdrawal I've experienced are hot/cold spells, insomnia, diarrhea, restlessness, shakiness, headaches.

The insomnia seemed to have taken the biggest toll as I literally didn't sleep for two nights. The second would be the dehydration from the diarrhea. Maybe all this detail is TMI. Anyway.. I got a full night sleep last night and have already taken a nap today. I've been drinking a lot of water, too. I imagine I'll be back to normal soon.. whatever normal is for me. *smile*

I'm going to take it easy for a couple days. Maybe browse some blogs for contests or promotional items. See what others have been up to since my short-lived absence. Maybe I'll take another nap first. I'll repost my exercise for comments as soon as I feel strong enough to get back on the bike.

Hey! remember if you can't whine to your friends that's not good. I think you would allow them to do same if needed. Sorry re the medication issue. glad you finally got some sleep. thanks for your comment on my blog re mother. I have to admit I got very sentimal,as at the end of the post was mother's death. take your time getting the medication to help you and blog when you can. Take care. Rose

What? It took your doctor that many days to get his ass in gear and do his job? That's not right.

Hi, I'm a first-time reader of your blog, having arrived here from Carolina's blog.

You have a very interesting, personalized blog (the kind I usually don't like because they usually aren't done very well, but your is), although YES, that was perhaps a bit TMI in a couple of paragraphs there!

I've read all the way back to mid-July in my first visit, and will definitely return to read some more.

Although our family has lived in the Atlanta area for 35 years, my wife and I lived in Orlando and Boca Raton (twice) down in Florida, and my son's family lived in both Clearwater and northwest Tampa. I will keep reading to see if I can learn what part of Florida you hail from.

Carolina is right; you have a great blog.

On the plus side: diarrhea (or diarrhoea if you have the chic version) does wonders for your weight loss ;-) Sorry you've been feeling so bad.

Rhymeswithplague is a very nice and intelligent guy, who has a very informative and entertaining blog, and always leaves... uhm... interesting comments on my posts
;-) One of those lovely people (like you and I) you meet in blogworld.

Hope you feel better soon Barb.

I had no idea the withdrawal was so harsh. It's been a couple days since this post... so I'm hoping you are doing okay now.
