Outer Banks

The Outer Banks area of the Carolinas is an area that was brought to my attention by the author Anne Rivers Siddons. I absolutely love her books and the design of Carolina homes sounds so inviting.

Anyone who reads my blog (all two of you hahaa) knows how much Mr. Skittles and I love to travel. Usually at the spur of the moment, too! Most times we don't even have a planned destination. We just pick a direction, throw stuff in the car, and off we go.

We're getting older now. In our golden years as they say. The point I'm trying to make is that we can't do that like we used to... Take turns driving all night, taking turns behind the wheel while the other sleeps. This saves money by not needing to add the expense of motels to our travel budget after we decide we want to end up in Yellowstone overnight, for instance. Quite a ways away from Michigan.

Back to where I started this post. I do tend to ramble at times..

Wouldn't it be nice to have somewhere only a long day's drive from home? Someplace we could stop and stay for a few days instead of rushing on to the next place? I'm thinking maybe we could find an answer at Outer Banks vacation rentals.

During our last vacation we stayed on Lake Michigan for one night. I can still hear the waves and seagulls if I close my eyes to remember how nice it was. Too bad we had to rush off the next day to get back home. But I'm a Florida born and raised girl and as nice as Lake Michigan is, it doesn't compare with the feel and smell of salt air and being so close to the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean!

Oh to be able to walk the beach collecting shells, wade in the water as the waves lap at my toes! To watch the sunrise sitting in the sand on a blanket with Mr. Skittles.. a warm cup of coffee in our hands. This is the stuff of which dreams are made.
