After sorting through options and making some big and sometimes painful decisions it looks like we will be keeping internet. I'm not 100% sure yet whether it will be cable, dialup or free wifi hot spots. It sorta kinda looks like, at least for now, that it will be cable.
We had to compromise on giving up other things to do this. But even one of my children saw that the internet is my biggest connection to the outside world at this point in my life. Sure things might get worse, and if that happens we will have to rethink this decision.
We've dramatically cut down some bills/services, discontinued others. Decided what we can sell to generate more immediate "income." We're going to make a more concerted effort to quit smoking again. That alone will cover my car's monthly payment.
I need to say now that every comment I read from my last post brought tears to my eyes. The concern and love I felt from each one touched me deeply. I guess I was expecting I could disappear quietly and no one would notice or care. Thank you for proving me wrong. ♥

we will find you...no matter where you go.....glad that you have found some other ways to free up the bucket....
Phew! What a relief to hear you've decided to compromise on other things and to keep the internet. I have to agree completely with your kids about the 'net being a very valuable item for your life -a way to maintain at least some semblance of sanity and a connection to other, which you very much NEED to have. I'm not agoraphobic, but I am pretty reclusive and if I had to give up my internet connection, I think I would wither up for sure. Even though I am not online as much as I used to be, I still rely on it a lot and it's a darned good tool for both of us -and others like us too -to have and use. Plus, I would really miss you like crazy if you weren't around at all to e-mail or communicate with from time to time. If I could finally give up the nicotine too, it would save me a bundle each moth too so will have to give it yet another shot I think.
So glad that you are able to have access to the internet. Honestly I find I have more friends online than I do where I live, there are not many people here that I have anything in common with. I think after you have been reclusive for whatever reason it is awfully hard to find friends. Probably the internet is somewhat healing for you. Have you considered Facebook. I ignored it until recently but I am really enjoying the little conversations. I feel I do have some friends out there even if I don't here and my hubby is always out fishing or doing something without me.
so happy to hear this.. after I told my youngest son about how sad I was to lose my skitts...
he told me how he takes WIFI from our neighbors house when our signal is weak.
THERE U GO!! Steal the internet!!! (wicked evil laugh right here!) xoxo
Without the internet how are you going to make your millions selling your unwanted items on eBay?? LOL Back when I was still working I had a lady who wanted 5 different kinds of cigarettes along with her order of groceries. Us cashiers have to to the office and get them for the customers. Iwent and got them before I started her order and for grins I did a total after rang up those 5 packs... it was $39. and change! The times of .75 cent packs of smokes are long gone. I used to smoke. My counter on my blog shows over 5 years smoke free now. You can do it! I used the patch and lots of lollipops! Hubby quit cold turkey with me. It helped that we did it together.
Of all the things that you can cut out on to help with expenses-internet would probably be the last thing for me. Aside from the social aspect of it, it's still an invaluable tool. I'm really glad that you've decided to keep the internet, I'm sure that you will find many other ways to cut costs along the way.
yeah, tell us if you need help with that smoking thing and we will support you as we can.
Maybe you can do some pay spots and pay the internet with that money.
Believe it or not, I was just gonna suggest something similar to what Maggie said. That maybe the paid spots could pay for the internet?
I'm available to help you brainstorm ideas!
